The State Awards are here.  Please send your nominations to Debbie Bryant dbryant@ncracquetball.com by March 1st of this year.  The State Awards are given to the players and contributors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in competition, leadership or sportsmanship during the last twelve months.  The Player's Skill Level does not matter.  We are also looking at Hall of Fame players (who has given to the sport of racquetball over a protracted period of time and championed the sport of racquetball in our State).

NCSU Racquetball Players would like to invite you to their 3rd Annual Wolfpack Classic Racquetball Tournament on February 17th - 19th, 2012. This is a fund raiser for the NCSU Racquetball Team and this year's tournament will be held concurrently with a separate collegiate tournament.

In response to numerous requests from Event Directors, the USA Racquetball Board of Directors has voted to lower the Limited Event Membership (LEM) fee from $20 to $10, effective immediately.  The on-line membership information in R2 Sports will be updated by tomorrow morning so that your entrants will see the new, lower rate.  New USAR Membership Forms reflecting the reduced fee will be available February 1, 2012; but until then please make manual adjustments on any membership forms being used.

Steven Harper from Clayton NC has created a non-profit organization and uses racquetball as a form of therapy for soldiers injuried in the line of duty.  Harper has also provided the first outdoor court in the state and is the co-founder of the Military Racquetball Federation (MRF).  Attached is a link to an article in which you can read more about this player who loves helping others.  Please take the time to read and learn more about our players in this state.

After noting that some forty-one percent of the general membership voted in favor of Option 3, a majority of the USAR’s Board of Directors agreed that a doubles team should be allowed to have either partner serve first each time the team comes “in” to serve and that an “out’ should be assessed to the team if a partner who has lost the serve attempts to serve again during that inning. Here is the pertinent rule wording:
