There are been several tournaments where indviduals question why a player is able to play in 2 different skill divisions. We are going to try and clarify how you should be entering a division(s) when you sign up. The Tournament Director always has the right to change any division (combine or move). If there are any questions, please feel free to contact either Debbie Bryant or Eric New.
1. After someone petitions to move to a different division:
A. Board meets, reads applicable material and makes the decision.
B. The applicant is then notified via mail or email as to the decision.
C. The applicant is informed of the following restrictions: if the player wants to play doubles in a tournament, he must play the same division that he is playing singles. His/her partner must also be eligible to play in that division.
D. If the player who requested the new division should want to try to play “up” in a tournament to see if he/she is ready to move back into the higher division, he must first declare in writing to the board his/her intentions. After they declare this, the board will notify the tournament director immediately of the request to play up. If they play doubles they must play up in the doubles division also.
E. If there is a draw bigger than 6 people in the elevated division, and the player wins that division, they must return to that higher division from that point on in both singles and doubles.
F. After a period of one year, or 3 tournaments, and the player having won no matches in a full division, may re-apply for a drop.
